Cox Automotive in Elkridge, MD is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to keep the site safe, clean, and operational. Day shift, on-site work only, with opportunities for overtime as needed.

Responsibilities include building and grounds upkeep, basic carpentry and concrete tasks, equipment cleaning, waste management, and adherence to safety procedures to support a reliable, well-maintained facility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required with 3 years in related field, or equivalent combination.
• Preferred: light/basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain buildings, property, equipment and landscaping.
• Clean and pick up trash in parking lots and exterior areas.
• Clean and maintain restrooms.
• Operate floor scrubbing machinery and keep floors clean.
• Perform routine carpentry for repairs of buildings and offices.
• Operate snow removal equipment for parking lots and sidewalks.
• Ensure buildings and assets are kept clean and safe.
• Follow safety procedures and participate in Safety Excellence activities.
• May be required to work overtime as needed by business.

Hourly base pay rate is $20.00 - $30.00/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain all buildings, property, equipment, and landscaping for the site.
• Clean and pick up trash/debris from parking lots and exterior trash cans.
• Clean and maintain restrooms.
• Operate floor scrubbing machinery and maintain clean auction house floors.
• Perform routine carpentry work in the repair and maintenance of buildings, offices, etc.
• Operate snow removal equipment to maintain parking lots and sidewalks.
• Maintain all buildings, property and equipment for the site.
• Ensure all buildings are kept clean.
• Empty and clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and comply with applicable safety rules.
• Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor, i.e., moving furniture, unloading and storing supplies, etc.
• May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.

Qualifications

Minimum

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field.
• OR the right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline;
• OR 5 years’ experience in a related field
• Safe driver's needed; valid driver's license required

Preferred

• Skill and knowledge to perform light/basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs required.
• Good communication and organizational skills required.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.
• Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.
• Medium strength. Ability to lift 1-50 pounds.
• Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
