Job summary

SOME (So Others Might Eat) in Washington, DC seeks an Apprentice/Service Technician I for Facilities Management to perform preventive and corrective maintenance at SOME-owned facilities. Under the direction of the Service Technician III, you will handle carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC tasks, travel to sites with your own transportation, and keep basic records.

Schedule is Tuesday–Saturday, 9:30 am–6:00 pm (40 hours/week) with on-call duties; requires CET training, a valid driver's

Qualifications

• Graduate of SOME's CET Building Maintenance Service Technician Training or equivalent.
• Travel to work sites using your own transportation; mileage reimbursed.
• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a vehicle and valid driver's license with personal car liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of building maintenance duties including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, roofing, and related craft work.
• Inspects facilities for safety compliance and reports findings; performs repairs as needed.
• Assists with framing, carpentry to erect small structures and install doors and windows.
• Installs and maintains plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, faucets.
• Performs routine electrical work and replaces light fixtures and ballast.
• Assists with roof installation and repair; troubleshoots leaks.
• Operates various hand and power tools; plans travel for projects.
• Completes work orders, time sheets, requisitions, and accident reports.
