Job summary

UVM Health Network- Elizabeth Community Hospital seeks a Maintenance Worker I to perform daily rounds across the complex, inspect and repair logged items in each department, and support ongoing facilities projects. The role requires basic mechanical skills and the ability to follow written instructions, with an emphasis on safety and independence.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and may benefit from vocational training, with NYS asbestos O&M certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Strong mechanical knowledge; vocational training is helpful.
• Ability to follow written work orders and instructions.
• Safe use of hand tools and some power tools.
• Good communication with hospital staff, patients and visitors.
• Self-directed, courteous, independent with minimal supervision.
• NYS asbestos O&M certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily rounds throughout the complex to inspect and repair items logged by each department.
• Assist with day-to-day operational projects and other facilities staff as assigned.
• Coordinate with hospital staff as needed.
