Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Carbide Manufacturing, Inc. is seeking a Commercial/Industrial HVAC Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize the plant’s HVAC, climate control, makeup air, and cooling systems to ensure reliable operation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role requires 3–5 years of hands-on experience in commercial HVAC service, EPA 608 Universal Certification, and the ability to interpret schematics and operate 480V systems.

Qualifications

• Active EPA Section 608 Universal Certification is required.
• State/local HVAC license preferred.
• Basic understanding of PLC controls.
• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in commercial HVAC service and maintenance.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting abilities including 480V 3‑phase power and control circuits.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on rooftop units and chillers.
• Monitor climate and ventilation controls throughout the facility.
• Conduct refrigerant recovery, evacuation, leak testing, and charging per EPA 608 regulations.
• Collaborate with maintenance on building and machine maintenance.

$34 - $46 Per Hour + Benefits Package Sumitomo Electric Carbide Manufacturing, Inc., is looking for a Commercial/Industrial HVAC Technician to join our growing team!

This position will maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize the plant’s HVAC, climate control, makeup air, and cooling systems to ensure reliable operation and uninterrupted manufacturing.

Job Duties:

• Preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on commercial rooftop units, and chillers
• Monitor and maintain climate and ventilation controls throughout the facility
• Perform recovery, evacuation, leak testing, and charging in full compliance with EPA Section 608 regulations
• Collaborate with maintenance team on general building maintenance and machine repair

Job Requirements:

• Active EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
• State and local HVAC license preferred
• Basic understanding of PLC controls
• 3-5 years hands-on experience in commercial HVAC service and maintenance, including commercial RTUs
• Strong electrical troubleshooting abilities (ie: reading schematics, 480v 3-phase power, control circuits, VFDs)
• Ability to life 50 pounds
• Previous experience with CNC grinding equipment a plus!

Work Environment:

Well-lit temperature-controlled machine shop. Employees will need to be able to work while standing, sitting, bending, and climbing. Employees will be occasionally lifting and working inside of machines.
