Job summary

API Heat Transfer is hiring for a Facilities Maintenance - 1st Shift position in a fast-growing manufacturing environment. The role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe facility and supporting plant appearance and operations.

The employee will perform cleaning, basic building maintenance, and groundskeeping, with a schedule that adapts to seasonal needs. High school diploma or GED and 1–2 years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of facilities maintenance, janitorial, or building maintenance experience.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance such as painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain plant offices, aisles, break rooms, restrooms, wash-up areas, and storage areas in clean, orderly condition.
  • Remove trash and debris; ensure supplies of soap and paper towels.
  • Perform routine cleaning of floors, walls, ceilings, fixtures, furniture, and cabinets.
  • Operate cleaning equipment (vacuums, floor scrubbers, polishers, sweepers, carpet shampooers).
  • Perform light building maintenance tasks (painting, switches/fixtures, water faucets/valves, basic carpentry, light masonry).
  • Perform grounds and landscaping duties (lawn mowing, sidewalk sweeping, debris removal, trimming, snow/ice removal).

Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance employee is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized facility while performing light building maintenance and groundskeeping duties. This position supports the overall appearance, functionality, and upkeep of the plant and surrounding property.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all plant offices, aisles, break rooms, restrooms, wash-up areas, and storage areas are maintained in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Remove trash and debris as needed and maintain adequate supplies of soap, paper towels, and other restroom essentials.
  • Perform routine cleaning of floors, walls, ceilings, fixtures, furniture, and cabinets.
  • Operate cleaning equipment, including vacuums, floor scrubbers, polishers, sweepers, and carpet shampooing machines.
  • Perform light building maintenance tasks, including:
    • Painting
    • Replacing switches, receptacles, and fixtures on 110-volt electrical circuits
    • Replacing water faucets and valves
    • Basic carpentry work
    • Light masonry repairs
  • Perform grounds and landscaping duties, including:
    • Lawn mowing
    • Sidewalk sweeping
    • Removal of yard debris
    • Trimming trees and shrubs
    • Snow and ice removal

Schedule Requirements

The employee's work schedule may be adjusted to meet business needs. From October 1 through March 31, employees may be required to report two hours earlier, working a schedule of 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to support snow and ice removal and other seasonal operational requirements. Employees are expected to adhere to the revised schedule when assigned.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of facilities maintenance, janitorial, or building maintenance experience.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of building maintenance, including painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and masonry repairs.
  • Ability to safely operate cleaning and groundskeeping equipment, including vacuums, floor scrubbers, lawn mowers, and snow removal equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and flexible to accommodate schedule changes based on operational needs.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety practices and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate cleaning and maintenance equipment.

This position may perform other duties as assigned to support facility operations.
