Job summary

McMurry University seeks an experienced technician to install, maintain, inspect, and repair electrical wiring and equipment on campus. The role involves working with low to high voltage, diagnosing problems, and selecting repair methods while following safety procedures.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, basic electrical knowledge, and experience with hand and power tools. Trade schooling and journeyman licensing are preferred to enhance capabilities.

• Assists other personnel as directed.

Job description

Major/Essential Duties of the Job:

• Performs a variety of technical and skilled work involved in the installation, maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, and equipment.
• Works with and around low to high voltage; 12 volt AC/DC up to 3 phase 480 volt.
• Basic troubleshooting methods for electrical circuits.
• Works with conduits, wires, pull boxes, switch boxes and switches.
• Observes and reports discrepancies.
• Discusses tasks and projects and suggests appropriate methods for completion.
• Submits work order completion reports completely, timely, and accurately.
• Operates vehicles, equipment, and hand/power tools as necessary.
• Cares for and maintains tools, equipment, keys, uniforms, and other items issued.
• Assists other personnel as directed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience:

• High school graduate or GED.
• Basic knowledge and experience working with electricity.
• Ability to diagnose problems and determine proper repair procedures. Experience with hand and power tools.
• Knowledge of basic safety requirements, procedures, and techniques. Ability and willingness to learn new skills, knowledge, and techniques.

Preferred Education/Experience:

• Trade school graduate.
• Journeyman or Master's License preferred
