Job summary

City of Laredo is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support facilities by performing general building and grounds maintenance, cleaning, and basic repairs. The role involves painting, carpentry, and light electrical/plumbing tasks as needed.

Selected candidates will drive a City vehicle, follow safety procedures, and support events and trainings. The position requires ability to work outdoors, lift up to 35 pounds, and maintain professional conduct in English; a Texas driver license is required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
• Valid Texas Driver License required.
• Background check and certified transcripts required from all applicants offered employment.
• Drug and alcohol testing per city policy for safety-sensitive positions.

Responsibilities

• Perform general building and grounds maintenance; clean, disinfect, and maintain restrooms; maintain equipment.
• Paint walls/fixtures and move furniture for events.
• Assist in maintenance of HVAC systems; perform minor electrical and plumbing repairs.
• Carry out carpentry, masonry, and painting tasks as needed.
• Drive a City vehicle for City business use.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
