Qualifications

• Knowledge of standard facilities maintenance and janitorial methods, tools, and supplies.
• Ability to safely operate floor-care equipment, vacuums, and basic carpentry tools.
• Basic computer skills for timekeeping, email, intranet access, and records.
• Customer service or public-facing experience; healthcare facility experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Perform routine facility inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.

Genesis Healthcare, Inc. is seeking a dependable, hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to help maintain safe, clean, functional, and welcoming healthcare facilities. The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, functional, and professional healthcare environment across Genesis Healthcare facilities. This role performs preventive maintenance, repairs, custodial services, grounds maintenance, and facility support activities to ensure buildings, equipment, and systems operate efficiently while supporting quality patient care and employee productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine facility inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, equipment issues, and repair requirements.
• Complete preventive maintenance activities and maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection reports, and service records.
• Troubleshoot and repair building systems, equipment, fixtures, and facility components.
• Assist with maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, temperature control, and other building systems.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations to minimize operational disruptions.
• Perform painting, drywall repair, carpentry, flooring repairs, ceiling tile replacement, door and lock repairs, and general facility improvements.
• Maintain interior and exterior facility appearance, including offices, clinical areas, restrooms, hallways, parking lots, sidewalks, and grounds.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, floor care equipment, and maintenance machinery safely and effectively.
• Perform custodial duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing, waxing, buffing, stripping, and polishing floors and surfaces.
• Clean windows, walls, fixtures, furniture, and other assigned areas to maintain a professional healthcare environment.
• Monitor and replenish janitorial, toiletry, and sanitation supplies while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
• Load, unload, transport, and move supplies, furniture, equipment, and office materials as needed.
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with vendors, contractors, and service providers performing facility-related work.
• Assist with facility security by identifying and reporting safety hazards, access issues, and building concerns.
• Perform basic computer, printer, and equipment troubleshooting and coordinate technology-related issues with IT support as appropriate.
• Participate in safety inspections, emergency preparedness activities, and facility compliance initiatives.
• Recommend facility improvements, operational efficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, HIPAA requirements, infection control standards, and organizational policies.
• Provide exceptional customer service to employees, patients, visitors, vendors, and community partners.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support facility operations and organizational needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Knowledge of standard facilities maintenance and janitorial methods, practices, tools, equipment, cleaning compounds, and supplies.
• Ability to safely operate floor-care equipment, vacuums, carpet cleaners, hand tools, power tools, painting tools, and basic carpentry equipment.
• Basic computer skills for timekeeping, email, intranet access, password resets, troubleshooting, and record maintenance.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions, prioritize assignments, maintain records, and communicate professionally.
• Customer service or public-facing experience; healthcare facility experience is preferred.
• Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to nearby Genesis Healthcare locations as needed.

Physical and Work Environment

• Ability to bend, reach, and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
• Ability to use a step ladder and safely operate assigned maintenance and janitorial equipment.
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
• Work may occur in clinical, administrative, mechanical, custodial, exterior, and parking areas.
