Job summary

San Diego Blood Bank is seeking a Plant Operations Specialist to assist in cleaning, maintenance and repairs of facilities, vehicles and equipment at the SDBB campus in San Diego. The role supports the Plant Operations team and contributes to the hospital blood bank network.

Under supervision, you will perform routine maintenance, document work, and ensure safety standards. It is a full-time, hourly position with benefits and a community-focused mission.

Qualifications

• 2 or more years in the maintenance field.
• Safely use tools and test equipment.
• Drive various motor vehicles. Must be 21 for insurance purposes.
• Maintain clear, concise, legible reports and accurate information logs/records.
• Perform maintenance tasks in electrical, plumbing, building repairs, automotive and refrigeration. Ability to use tools and test equipment associated with those tasks.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to, exhibits and upholds SDBB's Standards of Excellence.
• Assists with maintenance and repairs of building equipment, fixtures, motor vehicles and certain types of medical equipment.
• Completes work requests assigned by Plant Operations Management.
• Assists in updating and maintaining Plant Operations maintenance and repair logs.
• Keeps management apprised of maintenance or safety issues that come to their attention.
• Performs occasional custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, trash removal, and spot cleaning of carpets, walls and upholstery as required.
• Assists in the inspection of the cleaning of all bloodbank facilities by custodians and sub-contractors.
• Sets up rooms for meetings, exhibits and other bloodbank functions.
• Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
