Job summary

Bob's Discount Furniture seeks a Maintenance Technician 2 to handle daily building and equipment repairs, perform trades, and maintain clear maintenance records. The role requires advanced multi-trade skills, safety focus, and ability to read manuals and schematics.

The position supports the Facilities Manager, offers weekend hours, and opportunities to mentor junior technicians while contributing to a growing national retail operation.

Qualifications

• Willing to work flexible hours including weekends

Responsibilities

• Daily maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
• Perform plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical and fabrication duties as needed.
• Knowledge of plumbing code and repairs.
• Maintain accurate records (Service Channel) of all maintenance work.
• Read and interpret manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Work safely and identify unsafe practices.
• Support less experienced team members and train others.

Job Title

Maintenance Technician 2

Job Overview

The Maintenance Tech. 2 is responsible for general building repairs and maintenance, repairing warehouse equipment and completing handyman work as needed. This position should be qualified in all the Tech 1 qualifications and have a more advanced knowledge and skill set in multiple trades.

Job Responsibilities

• Daily maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
• Perform all plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical and fabrication duties as needed.
• Knowledge in plumbing code and repairs.
• Maintain accurate records (Service Channel) of all Maintenance work performed as instructed.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment repair manuals, blueprints, electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Operate in a safe manner for benefit of self and others and maintain a watchful eye for unsafe practices and situations.
• Other duties: As assigned by Facilities Manager.

Decision Making Responsibilities: Under direct supervision of Facilities Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will work independently and will support less experienced team members.

Minimum Qualifications

• Previous facilities repair and maintenance experience.
• Ability to operate and knowledge of fork-lift or industrial equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent experience in facilities maintenance.
• Ability to communicate proactively and effectively including comprehending and communicating detailed instructions, reading and writing, and having knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures as required by the position.
• Skilled in multi-tasking and managing competing priorities.
• Must be able to work flexible hours determined by needs of department including weekends.
• Ability to safely and effectively utilize general hand tools, saws , drills, etc.
• Use of a computer for email and to manage Service Channel work orders.
• Must be at least 18 years old to be considered for employment with Bob’s.

Physical Demands

Able to sit, walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, push and handle and move items weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance. Ability to move throughout all areas of the distribution center. Move objects up to 250 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations Stand and walk continuously to perform job functions.
