Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Company is seeking a Maintenance Technician 1 for the B shift, Tuesday to Friday from 4:00PM to 2:30AM.

In this role, you will perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on production equipment and tools, conduct preventative and emergency maintenance tasks as required. This position requires a minimum of three to five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three to five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Training in electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC, and Servo preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on production equipment.
  • Execute preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.
  • Set up machinery for scheduled production runs.

Job description

Your Opportunity as a Maintenance Technician 1 B shift

Hours: Tuesday-Friday 4:00PM-2:30AM

In this role you will: Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on production equipment and tools in a just-in-time environment. Perform scheduled, preventative and emergency maintenance tasks and projects as assigned by the maintenance supervisor or their designee

Location: Edgerton KS

Pay: $26.36

Reports to: Manager/Operations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs.
  • Performs mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjustments
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards with attention to detail.

Education:High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)

Minimum Requirements:
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Follow health and safety practices as they apply to area of work and the facility
  • Perform appropriate housekeeping tasks as needed
  • Performs other responsibilities and duties assigned by manager
  • Ensure product manufacturing runs smoothly without significant interruptions.
  • Work closely with Regulatory Compliance regarding food safety.
  • Minimum of three to five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Training in electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC, and Servo is preferred.
Tools and Equipment:

Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.

  • Forklifts, electric and manual floor jacks, dollies, computer, pencil, markers, cardboard, bump hat, ear plugs, and hair net.
  • Safety glasses are optional.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The employee must have the ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, bend, reach, push, pull, twist, crawl, climb stairs/ladders, and be able to lift to a maximum of 50 pounds.
