Job summary

Mercer Engineering Research Center (MERC), a research institute of Mercer University, seeks a Facilities Maintenance Technician to administer and perform facilities maintenance for the Research Center in Warner Robins, GA. The role operates under the direction of the Facility and Safety Manager and supports DoD-related work with a broad skill set.

The position requires US citizenship, ability to obtain a DoD clearance, and at least 6 years in general maintenance.

Qualifications

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience with general maintenance.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a broad range of building maintenance tasks for MERC properties in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, general maintenance, and locksmith duties.
  • Repairs, maintains/monitors all equipment and amenities.
  • Changes light bulbs interior and exterior as needed.
  • Performs minor sheetrock repairs.
  • Investigates and prioritizes facilities related work orders and recommends corrective action.
  • Moves, assembles, and arranges furniture and equipment per room set-up specifications.
  • Communicates with employees to inform on repair work that impacts them.
  • Follows safety rules and provides aid in emergency situations; keeps work area clean.
