Job summary

Mercer Engineering Research Center (MERC), a Mercer University research unit, seeks a Facilities Maintenance Technician in Warner Robins, GA. The role administers and performs facilities maintenance under the Facility and Safety Manager, covering carpentry, electrical, plumbing and more to support MERC operations.

Responsibilities include inspecting and repairing equipment, prioritizing work orders, and ensuring safety compliance.

Qualifications

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 6 years of general maintenance experience.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and able to multi-task.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a broad range of building maintenance tasks in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and locksmith duties.
  • Repairs, maintains and monitors equipment and amenities.
  • Changes interior and exterior light bulbs as needed.
  • Performs minor sheetrock repairs.
  • Investigates and prioritizes facilities work orders and recommends corrective action.
  • Moves, assembles and arranges furniture per room setup specifications.
  • Communicates with staff about repair work impacting them.
  • Follows safety rules and provides aid in emergencies.
  • Keeps work area clean and orderly; performs other duties as assigned.

Job Details

Mercer Engineering Research Center (MERC), a research institute of Mercer University, provides high-quality engineering, scientific, and technical support services to both government and private industry customers. MERC is currently recruiting for a Facilities Maintenance Technician. The Facilities Maintenance Technician administers and performs facilities maintenance for the Research Center under the direction of the Facility and Safety Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Performs a broad range of building maintenance tasks for MERC properties in the areas of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, general maintenance, and locksmith duties.
  • Repairs, maintains/monitors all equipment and amenities.
  • Changes light bulbs, interior and exterior, as needed.
  • Performs minor sheetrock repairs.
  • Investigates and prioritizes facilities related work orders and recommends corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints.
  • Moves, assembles, and arranges furniture and equipment per room set-up specifications.
  • Communicates with various employees to keep them informed on repair work which impacts them.
  • Follows safety rules and provides aid/support in emergency situations.
  • Keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities in related areas as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience with general maintenance.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task.
  • Must have good organizational skills to manage the heavy workload.
  • Additional requirements may be added as appropriate and as specified in the specific Personnel Requisition Form. Final rank will be determined on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
