Job summary

The City of South Fulton is seeking a skilled maintenance worker to perform repairs, coordinate and monitor maintenance activities across multiple city facilities including police precincts, arts centers, recreation centers, and fire stations. Responsibilities include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, and other general maintenance tasks.

Under supervision, perform routine semi-skilled tasks, install/repair doors, light bulbs, locks, and fixtures, and manage supplies for building systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; vocational/technical training in building maintenance, HVAC, plumbing or electrical preferred.
• Three years of experience in HVAC, plumbing or electrical or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Requires a valid Georgia driver’s license with acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled/manual general maintenance, e.g., plumbing, tile, and HVAC troubleshooting.
• Maintain facilities in safe, clean condition and ensure availability for use.
• Repair, install, and maintain building systems, doors, lighting, locks, and gutters as required.
• Operate maintenance tools and equipment; work independently or with others as needed.
• Maintain inventory and order parts; request supplies for repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Other related duties as required.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The purpose of this classification is to perform repairs, coordinate, and monitor operational building maintenance activities for Police Precincts, Arts Centers, Recreational Center, Fire Stations, and other City own facilities in multiple locations around the City of South Fulton in a variety of maintenance disciplines. Under the general supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager performs a wide variety of repairs and maintenance for city building and facilities as required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform skilled/manual work functions associated with general maintenance of assigned facilities. such as installing/repairing plumbing systems, laying tile flooring, and troubleshooting HVAC units.
• Under general supervision, performs a variety of routine semi-skilled maintenance for facilities; ensures that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition.
• Duties include but are not limited to repairing and maintaining facilities and equipment; performing general construction, repair, and installation tasks; performing basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, landscaping, and other tasks
• Operates a variety of maintenance and cleaning tools and equipment; and performs related work as required
• May work independently or with other skilled or semi-skilled workers with responsibility for completion of assigned tasks
• Performs general maintenance, repair, & installation tasks such as installing/repairing doors, changing light bulbs, locks, fences, light plumbing duties, plumbing fixtures; replacing windows; repairing gutters and roof leaks; assembling furniture or equipment; hanging pictures, blinds, and moving furniture.
• Maintains inventory levels of tools and materials orders supplies as needed; picks up special parts from supplier as appropriate
• Identifies and requests supplies needed for tasks related to repairs and preventive maintenance of building systems.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Performs other related duties as required.
• High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by vocational or technical training in building maintenance, HVAC, plumbing or electrical or a related field preferred.
• Three (3) years of experience in HVAC, plumbing or electrical or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
• Requires a valid Georgia driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
