Job summary

DSRT SURF in Palm Desert, CA is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to keep our wave equipment, lagoon, and grounds running safely and reliably. You will own wavegarden equipment maintenance, lagoon upkeep, and general facilities tasks to ensure a premier guest experience from day one.

Ideal candidates bring experience with maintenance systems, hand and power tools, and a strong mechanical mindset. The role is on-site, full-time or part-time, with outdoor work in varied desert conditions

Qualifications

  • Experience in facilities maintenance, pool or aquatics, or property operations.
  • Knowledge of maintenance systems, tools, lubrication, and general repairs.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and willingness to learn wave equipment systems.
  • Experience safely using hand tools and power tools.
  • Comfortable working around water, outdoors in varying weather.
  • Reliability, attention to detail, and adaptability.
  • Certifications in OSHA, pool/aquatics, mechanical, HVAC or electrical are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Wavegarden equipment with routine lubrication and preventive maintenance.
  • Inspect and report issues to Facilities leadership.
  • Support maintenance programs for wave systems with Facilities and Surf Operations.
  • Keep accurate maintenance logs for wave equipment servicing.
  • Perform lagoon vacuuming and debris removal to maintain water clarity.
  • Monitor lagoon equipment and support water quality protocols with Safety and Surf Operations teams.
  • Perform general facilities cleanup and upkeep of outdoor spaces.
  • Assist with event setup, breakdown, and on-call support as needed.
  • Complete repairs including carpentry, painting, drywall, and fixtures as required.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies in a timely manner.

This is a fully on-site role in Palm Desert, California.

What You'll Do

The Facilities Maintenance Technician keeps DSRT SURF's wave equipment, lagoon, and grounds running safely and reliably. This role is built around three core areas of ownership: Wavegarden equipment maintenance, lagoon upkeep, and general facilities and grounds cleanup.

Wavegarden Equipment Maintenance
  • Perform routine greasing, lubrication, and preventive maintenance on wave generation machinery and mechanical systems
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and report issues with wavegarden equipment and machinery to Facilities leadership
  • Support scheduled maintenance programs for wave systems in partnership with Facilities and Surf Operations
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation for wave equipment servicing
Lagoon Maintenance
  • Perform routine lagoon vacuuming and debris removal to maintain water clarity and cleanliness
  • Monitor and maintain lagoon related equipment and systems as directed
  • Support water quality and maintenance protocols in partnership with Water Safety and Surf Operations teams
Facilities & Grounds Cleanup
  • Perform general facilities cleanup including trash removal, debris pickup, and grounds maintenance throughout the property
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of outdoor spaces, walkways, and guest facing operational areas (this role does not include guest room or housekeeping duties)
  • Assist with event setup, breakdown, and operational support as needed
  • Follow company safety procedures and operational standards at all times
General Building Maintenance
  • Perform basic repairs including carpentry, painting, drywall patching, door hardware, fencing, fixtures, and furniture
  • Replace lighting, filters, ceiling tiles, and other building components as needed
  • Assemble, install, move, and repair equipment, furniture, signage, and operational fixtures
  • Complete assigned work orders in a timely and professional manner
Maintenance Requests & Emergency Response
  • Respond to maintenance requests throughout the property in a timely manner
  • Support emergency maintenance situations as needed, including outside of scheduled hours when required
  • Identify maintenance concerns and report repair needs before they become larger issues
Requirements
What You Bring
  • Previous experience in facilities maintenance, pool or aquatics maintenance, mechanical, construction, or property operations preferred
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance systems, tools, lubrication and greasing procedures, and general repair work
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and willingness to learn wave equipment systems
  • Experience safely using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment
  • Comfortable working around water, pool or lagoon environments, and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Reliable attendance, dependability, and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt in a fast paced environment
  • OSHA, pool, aquatics, mechanical, HVAC, or electrical certifications are a plus

Current Work Environment

DSRT SURF is currently operating from an active construction and development site as we prepare for opening. Team members may occasionally work around construction activity, dust, noise, uneven surfaces, machinery, and changing operational environments.

Appropriate footwear and adherence to all company safety guidelines will be required while on site. Work boots and other safety related attire may be required during this phase of development.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and climb for extended periods, including around the lagoon and wave equipment
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment, including greasing and lubrication equipment
  • Ability to work in and around water, including lagoon vacuuming equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions, including extreme desert heat
  • Ability to safely navigate construction areas, maintenance spaces, and operational environments
Compensation

$19.00 per hour | Non-Exempt | Hourly.

Schedule Expectations

This is a full time or part time, in person position. Scheduling needs and hours may vary based on operational demands, maintenance priorities, and business needs. Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, or on call shifts may be required.
