Job summary

Bayliss Boatworks Inc, located in North Carolina, is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to ensure our facility operates smoothly and efficiently. Job description

We are seeking a versatile, experienced individual to join our facility maintenance team. With a focus on excellence, we believe that our facility should perform and look as impeccable as the yachts we build. We’re looking for someone who takes the same pride in their work as our team of nearly 100 dedicated boatbuilders and craftsmen.

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for helping to maintain the systems that ensure our facility operates smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This is a hands‑on role where you will actively participate in the maintenance and repair of various systems and equipment. Your contributions will directly support our mission to build the best custom sportfishing yachts in the world, and your involvement in day‑to‑day operations is key to maintaining the high standards we set for both our facility and our boats.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facility Systems Management:
    • Maintain and repair critical facility systems, including:
      • Air compressor and ventilation systems
      • Industrial paint booths and vacuum pump systems
      • Mechanical door systems, fans, and motors
  • Equipment Repairs and Preventative Maintenance:
    • Perform maintenance and repairs on key equipment, including:
      • Marine Travelift, Hydraulic Trailer, PIP Lift
      • Scissor lifts, forklifts, and boom lifts
      • Kubota vehicles and golf carts
  • Facility Security & Safety:
    • Assist in maintaining building security systems, locks, and fences/gates
    • Help to ensure hazardous material safety, including propane tank maintenance
    • Maintain fire safety systems and assist with evacuation planning
  • Building and Grounds Maintenance:
    • Repair and maintain doors, windows, and the building exterior
    • Assist with plumbing, HVAC systems, and light electrical work (e.g., lighting, outlets)
    • Help maintain general landscaping and organize common areas
    • Assist in boat stand and block maintenance
Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in facilities maintenance or a related field. Experience with large-scale facility systems is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Strong background in air compressor, ventilation, and industrial systems maintenance. Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex systems.
  • Mechanical Expertise: Proficiency with maintaining and repairing heavy equipment such as travel lifts, hydraulic trailers, scissor lifts, forklifts, and Kubota vehicles.
  • Hands‑On Role: This is a hands‑on position that requires active participation in maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate must be comfortable performing repairs, troubleshooting equipment, and conducting routine maintenance directly.
  • Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of hazardous materials handling, fire safety systems, and building security protocols.
  • Problem‑Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently while maintaining high operational standards.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and management.
  • Work Ethic: A self‑motivated, detail‑oriented individual with a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
