Job summary

Bridgetown Natural Foods in Mount Juliet, TN is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to handle preventive, predictive and routine maintenance across the plant, building and grounds, including HVAC, plumbing, steam and condensate systems, exhaust, and fire protection.

JOB SUMMARY

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks for the facility and grounds. The individual in this role will troubleshoot issues, repair failures of plant facilities equipment, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency, effectiveness and reliability. Responsibilities include performing a wide variety of facilities preventative and unscheduled maintenance duties in the areas of general building maintenance, plumbing, welding, mechanical and HVAC systems, exhaust, open and closed loop cooling systems and fire protection systems, steam and condensate system, and compressed air system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Work with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance in the installation and/or repair of building and facilities systems
• Maintain, operate and repair the facility’s structure, equipment and grounds, including plumbing, HVAC, steam boiler and condensate recovery, and compressed air systems
• Utilize Lock-Out / Tag-Out and all plant safety practices
• Provide direct support to production, sanitation and quality systems related to ensuring company policies and procedures
• Perform basic carpentry and painting in the facility
• Repair or alter structures such as walls, roof, office fixtures
• Make periodic or special inspections of the facility to determine repair work necessary
• Manage contractors on site to assure compliance with safety, security, cleanliness, and GMP policies and to assure good working relationship
• Perform PM’s and repairs on all facility man, roll-up and dock doors
• Inspect and diagnose facility leaks, including roof leaks and HVAC leaks for the facility

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• 2-4 years’ experience in building maintenance or equivalent

• Steam Boiler Certification preferred
• HVAC certification preferred
• Excellent troubleshooting experience including mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics
• Experience in a CMMS environment. Will generate work requests based on findings during daily rounds.

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, governmental regulations, installation instructions
• Must be able to read and follow blueprints, drawings, and schematics
• Ability to write reports, SOPs, and basic procedures
• Experience operating forklift, scissor lift, and boom lift required
• Must have good basic math and analytical skills as well as the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
• Ability to understand and communicate work instructions in English

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS

• Position may require repetitive movement, bending and twisting, using hands to handle objects; exposure to sustained noise levels; working in very hot temperatures; exposure to hazards such as machinery, slippery floors, ladders and powered industrial vehicles. May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Occasionally required to kneel, crouch, crawl, stoop, and often required to walk, climb, and balance
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift to 70 pounds
• Able to work in an environment containing nuts, peanuts, dairy, grains and other allergens
• Must be available for all shifts, nights, weekends, some holidays, occasional overtime, if necessary
