NATURE OF WORK:
Primary work assignments include regularly scheduled maintenance services as needed in Town buildings. Shall participate and assist the buildings general maintenance which may include carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, remodeling, landscaping and general cleaning may be required to fill in for senior staff as needed.
SUPERVISION:
Works under the direction of Director of Facilities. Shall receive directives and daily assignments from the Senior Maintenance Staff in charge and shall respond to all directives from School Principals and shall work corporately with all building staff.
JOB ENVIRONMENT:
Work requires moderate physical effort while performing duties under varying weather conditions. May be required to work off. Hours and overtime to ensure project completion as needed in an efficient manner.
Errors could result in delays of work projects, damage to equipment, injury to persons, damage to public and private property, waste of materials or excessive cost of a major municipal service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
Knowledge: Knowledge of basic construction and remodeling methods as well as the associated safety practices with each trade.
Skills: Basic understanding of the following trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electricity, HVAC, and painting; moderately skilled in the use of general and some specialized tools related to those crafts.
Ability: Ability to understand the importance of maintaining good public relations, working well with fellow employees and to follow written or oral instructions. Ability to work independently.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School graduation plus experience in public works, construction, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, grounds maintenance or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Driver’s license and must have a good driving record.
Physical Requirements:
Moderate to strenuous physical effort is required to perform duties. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, speak, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift or move objects weighing more than 60 pounds. Vision requirements include the ability to conduct visual inspections of facilities, read documents and plans, operate a motor vehicle, and use tools and equipment.
