Qualifications

• Proficient in diagnosing and repairing buildings and equipment.
• Able to interpret electrical codes and health codes.
• Capable of following safety protocols related to chemical handling.
• Mechanically inclined and able to be trained.
• Working knowledge of electrical supplies and equipment.
• Knowledge of chemical handling and disposal.
• Familiarity with electrical, health, fire, and local mechanical codes.
• Ability to read blueprints and wiring schematics.
• Provide legible communication and directions.
• Compute math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance tasks on property.
• Complete maintenance request work orders promptly.
• Conduct preventive maintenance for building equipment.
• Troubleshoot maintenance calls and perform basic repairs or seek assistance as needed.
• Report any unusual occurrences or damage observed during duty.
• Keep work areas clean and organized.
• Receive daily work assignments from Chief Engineer/Supervisor.

Job description

The Galt House Hotel is currently looking for a Facilities Maintenance Technician to work during 1st Shift (8 AM- 4 PM).

This person will be responsible for maintaining the general condition of the property with regards to all aspects of basic electrical, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and painting work. You will complete maintenance request work orders from all departments on a timely basis and perform preventive maintenance for all building equipment and rooms.

Requirements

• Performs general maintenance skills necessary for diagnosing and repairing buildings and equipment on property.
• Change light bulbs, switch plate covers, replacing filters and switching out appliances in guest rooms.
• Performs preventative maintenance as assigned.
• Troubleshoots maintenance calls and performs basic repairs or reaches out for assistance when issues are beyond scope of one's capabilities.
• Reports any unusual occurrence and or damage that may have taken place that is observed while on duty.
• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
• Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
• Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
• Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
• Receive daily work assignments from Chief Engineer/Supervisor and review priorities and special projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Working knowledge of:
  • Health codes
  • Electrical codes
  • National/local fire codes
  • Local mechanical codes
  • Blue prints and wiring schematics
  • Power and hand tools, meters, etc. as it relates to the technical trades
• Provide legible communication and directions.
• Compute math calculations.
• Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.

Ability to

• Interpret manufacturer's literature for installation, preparation, use and upkeep of various materials and products used throughout the property.
• Be well organized and follow instructions.
• Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
