Job summary

Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform day-to-day inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs of buildings and equipment. The role includes responding to emergencies, supporting other trades, and ensuring safety and documentation are maintained.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, 2 years of general maintenance experience, and an OSHA 10 card.

Qualifications

• HS Graduate or Equivalent or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health card.
• Competency in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC/R or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections, installations, and general maintenance and repairs of buildings and equipment.
• Respond to emergency situations and correct defects; may assist lower level technicians.
• Adhere to safety practices, document work, and provide customer service; assist other trades as needed.

Job description

Under the supervision of a senior technician or supervisor, the facilities maintenance technician performs intermediate tasks related to day-to-day inspections, preventative maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. Functions will include but are not limited to:

• daily inspections
• installations
• general maintenance (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC) and repairs

Responds to emergency situations and evaluates and corrects defects. May assist lower level facilities technicians.

Assists other trades as needed; adheres to all safety practices and procedures; cleans and maintains work areas and equipment; attends meetings; properly completes documentation; provides a high level of customer service; communicates to customers, coworkers and supervision via written, electronic, and verbal methods and devices; operates department vehicle; performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education Required

HS Graduate or Equivalent or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications

• Required: Per CCS specifications; High school diploma/GED with two years’ experience in general maintenance or equivalent combination of education and experience; valid OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health card; at the time of entry into this position, demonstrates competency in each of the identified technical specialties as required for this position’s level of responsibility: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC/R or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Shift, hours, days, and/or location are subject to change based on operational need in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement; may work overtime; subject to 24 hour emergency call.
