Job summary

Guardian Glass in Carleton, MI is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to keep buildings and equipment safe and fully operational through preventive maintenance and timely repairs.

Day shift, Mon–Fri, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, with opportunities for overtime and career advancement. A strong benefits package, including 401(k) match up to 7%, 120 hours vacation, 10 holidays, and promotion potential, supports our team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
  • Repair and replace worn components, fixtures, and equipment as needed.
  • Clean, paint, and maintain facilities and grounds; assist with events.
  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialized work.
  • Ensure EH&S standards are followed and documented.

Your Job
Our Guardian Glass facility, in Carleton, MI, is hiring for a Facilities Maintenance Technician!

Responsible for ensuring buildings, equipment, and grounds remain safe, clean, and fully operational through preventive maintenance, inspections, and repair activities. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as performing painting, cleaning, and general maintenance tasks. The role requires strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve facility-related issues efficiently. This individual will work independently throughout the day and collaborate with external contractors as needed to support maintenance projects and facility improvements.

The position is a day shift role, typically working Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

What You Will Do
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, generators) to ensure safety and efficiency
  • Fix minor electrical issues, plumbing, drywall, painting, lighting, and furniture repairs
  • Perform general cleaning, floor maintenance, and trash removal, particularly during events
  • Ensure work is compliant with all EH&S Performance Standards
  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs
Employees may be assigned to various departments throughout the facility. Following is a list of physical and environmental demands for these departments:
  • Work in a hot, humid, dusty, and cold environment
  • Perform work in an outdoor environment, exposing one to the elements
  • Perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs., walking, stooping, standing, repetitively pushing and/or pulling
  • Climb stairs and work on roofs
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Experience working in industrial, construction, manufacturing, or relevant fields
  • Experience with hand tools and power tools
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Understanding of HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and building mechanics.
  • HVAC Preventative Maintenance experience (filter change, coil cleaning)
  • 5 or more years’ of experience working in an industrial setting
  • Experience with general site safety
  • Experience directing and managing sub-contractors
  • OSHA Certification
