Job summary

Penn State is seeking a facilities/maintenance worker to operate scrubbing, polishing and cleaning equipment and perform floor care across campus. The role includes moving furniture, removing debris, cleaning windows, and assisting event setups at various campus locations.

Shifts include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with daytime and evening hours. Qualifications emphasize basic math, following instructions, and using simple gauges and reading instruments; up to 3 months of experience is acceptable.

Qualifications

• Requires basic arithmetic (adding, subtracting) and ability to follow instructions.
• Up to 3 months of effective experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Operate cleaning and maintenance equipment (scrubbing machines, vacuum, wet-dry pick-up, hand tools) as required.
• Sweep, scrub, strip, seal, wax, and shampoo floors, floor coverings and furniture.
• Remove and replace incandescent bulbs, fluorescent tubes, shades, blinds, window screens and fixtures.
• Remove debris and waste from buildings; move furniture and equipment as needed.
• Wash windows, walls, ceilings, light fixtures, and screens; assist in setting up event spaces.
• Operate a vehicle to transport materials and personnel between sites.
• Maintain tools and work area; report unusual conditions to supervisor.
• Shovel snow and apply sand or anti-skid materials as required.
