Job summary

Ames Fitness Center is seeking a reliable Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on fitness equipment and facility systems across our three Ames locations. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, takes pride in quality workmanship, and enjoys solving problems.

This role requires some early mornings, late nights or weekend shifts, and some on-site training will be provided. Schedule: Up to 30+ hours per week.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with fitness equipment repair and maintenance preferred.
• General knowledge of building maintenance, repair, and construction techniques.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
• Skid loader and ATV experience is a plus.
• Must provide own hand and power tools.
• Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance and repairs on fitness equipment at all three Ames Fitness Center locations.
• Diagnose and complete minor and major repairs on exercise equipment and facility components.
• Conduct preventative maintenance to uphold safety standards and extend the life of equipment.
• Assist with facility renovation and remodeling projects.
• Repair drywall and plaster, and perform painting and general building maintenance.
• Complete outdoor maintenance tasks, including snow removal and minor grounds maintenance.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed.

Some on-site training will be provided.
