Job summary

The Hoover Met Complex is seeking a Facility Maintenance Team Member to assist the Facility Maintenance Manager with daily upkeep of the buildings and grounds in Hoover, AL.

The role involves performing manual tasks, supervising and assisting crew members, and supporting both facility and grounds maintenance across cleaning, equipment operation, and coordination with outside vendors as needed. Part-time, non-exempt position with varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must have experience working with sports facilities and associated grounds and equipment.
• General knowledge of maintenance, janitorial & landscaping.
• Understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Maintain overall appearance and cleanliness of the facility.
• Inventory, organize, and stock up closets, toolboxes, and maintenance areas.
• Coordinate cleaning schedule around daily activities.
• Knowledge of building internals (sprinkler systems, HVAC systems, alarm systems).
• Manage utilities (lights, temperature controls, heaters).
• Maintain and repair playing surfaces.
• Schedule and perform maintenance on facility equipment.
• Contract maintenance with outside vendors when necessary.
• Monitor overall appearance and cleanliness of the building.
• Coordinate maintenance and repair work with directors and contractors to avoid conflicts.
• Monitor walkways, beds, weeds, trash, water, ice, etc.
• Operate and maintain sports equipment.
• Maintain trees, shrubbery, and flower beds.
• Operate machinery including all equipment.
• Clean and maintain parking lot.
• Keep inventory of supplies and logs.
• Make sure all paperwork is up to date.
• Complete special projects and daily assignments as directed by management.
