Job summary

Elderwood in Town of Amherst, NY is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support resident safety and facility operations. Shift 8:00am-4:00pm with on-call weekends; duties include repairs to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, grounds upkeep, snow/ice removal, and operating a company vehicle as needed.

You must be at least 18, have a year of related maintenance experience, a valid driver license, and be able to read and communicate in English; a HS diploma is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Minimum one year of related work experience in maintenance, carpentry, contracting, etc.
• Current, valid driver license
• Participation in facility on-call program which may include working “off-hours”
• Experience operating small hand tools, electric tools, lawn mowers, snowblowers, etc.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English at an intermediate or higher level

Responsibilities

• Assists with and performs duties related to electricity, plumbing, painting, carpentry, mechanics, heating/cooling and water systems.
• Maintains grounds, parking lots, and driveways; snow/ice removal as needed.
• Drives company vehicle as needed/requested.
• Observes residents' rights and treats residents with courtesy and respect.
• Arrives to work on time and adheres to schedule; maintains transportation.
• Ensures safety and confidentiality of resident information and privacy.
• Attends facility and staff meetings; participates in inservices as required.
