Job summary

Nebraska Furniture Mart (NFM) is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician II to maintain, repair and upgrade building systems in our large facility. The role focuses on keeping the business operating efficiently through electrical, plumbing, HVAC and basic carpentry tasks.

We offer a rotating 12-hour schedule 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., with three-day weekends every other week, and a comprehensive benefits package for full-time teammates.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• 1 year building maintenance, custodial, general or labor experience
• Technical or trade school classes in related field
• Basic carpentry skills and electrical knowledge preferred
• Knowledge and observance of safety precautions
• knowledge of how to use and maintain power tools, hand tools and equipment
• Painting skills and plumbing knowledge preferred
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Ability to work night, weekend and/or early morning hours based on business needs.
• Pre-employment screening includes, but isn’t limited to, criminal background check

Responsibilities

• Replace: Lights and ballasts in fluorescent fixtures while upgrading to higher efficiency retrofit.
• Repair: Plumbing fixtures, unclog drains and maintain plumbing systems.
• Perform: Corrective, routine and requisitioned repairs of minor problems with mechanical and HVAC systems.
• Collaborate: Maintain routine records of all inspections, maintenance and repairs performed on any equipment or system, within a computer based management system.
• Support: Maintain mechanical rooms and equipment.
