Job summary

UTHealth Houston is seeking a Maintenance Worker I to perform semi-skilled maintenance across carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC, assisting skilled technicians with installations, repairs and preventive maintenance to keep campus facilities safe and functional.

This essential role may require reporting during emergencies or campus closures, and offers benefits including premium medical, generous time off, longevity pay, and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Completion of 10th grade High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks.
• Physical ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled maintenance and repairs across multiple trades.
• Assist skilled technicians with installations, repairs and PMs.
• Conduct building rounds and report findings to supervisor.
• Carry a university communication device and respond to calls during business hours.
