Lamar University is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to ensure the smooth operation of its campus facilities in Beaumont, Texas. A Facilities Maintenance Technician in an educational setting plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of the institution’s facilities. This position involves performing routine inspections and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems to ensure they are functioning efficiently and safely. The technician is responsible for diagnosing and repairing issues, implementing preventive maintenance schedules, and responding promptly to emergency maintenance requests. Adherence to safety regulations and protocols is crucial to maintaining a safe environment for students and staff. Additionally, the technician must maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities and communicate effectively with other staff members. This role requires a combination of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, physical stamina, and a commitment to maintaining a functional and comfortable environment for everyone in the educational institution. Candidate may be required to work flexible hours and perform other duties as required. This position is considered as essential, and employees may be required to work as scheduled when most or all other university offices are closed due to emergency situations or natural disasters.
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, weather, fumes, temperature and noise extremes.
