Roof Above is NC’s most comprehensive homeless service provider. Our mission is to unite our community to end homelessness, one life at a time. Focusing on individuals experiencing homelessness, Roof Above offers everything from street outreach to shelter to Rapid Rehousing to Permanent Supportive Housing. Our services reach over 1,300 individuals daily across nine campuses in Charlotte. Roof Above was formed through the merger of Urban Ministry Center and Men’s Shelter of Charlotte in 2019.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees daily maintenance operations of assigned facilities, managing a team of technicians, scheduling repairs, managing vendors, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring safety compliance.

• Lead and mentor maintenance technicians
• Assign tasks and ensure timely completion of projects
• Conduct performance evaluations and training
• Oversee daily maintenance activities
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs
• Coordinate emergency repairs and troubleshooting
• Ensure safety regulations compliance
• Conduct regular inspections for hazards
• Maintain accurate maintenance records
• Assist in managing the maintenance budget
• Track expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Coordinate with other departments
• Communicate with management about issues and updates
• Perform other duties supporting our mission

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent; higher education preferred
• Experience in maintenance management or supervision
• Knowledge of maintenance techniques, tools, and safety
• Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Leadership and communication skills
• Maintenance management software proficiency is a plus
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record

Working Environment

• Requires working nontraditional hours with minimal supervision
• Physical activity including lifting up to 50 lbs, walking, bending, climbing ladders, working in elevated environments
• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor settings
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, first shift with breaks and meal periods
• On-call for emergency repairs
