Job summary

Shrub Oak International School in New York is seeking a Facilities and Maintenance Associate to care for on-site buildings, equipment, and grounds across a 127-acre campus.

The role requires at least 3 years in facilities maintenance, a high school diploma, strong safety practices, and the ability to work independently or with teams. Experience with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and general repairs is preferred; a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years of facilities maintenance experience.
• Strong working knowledge of general maintenance and building systems.
• Ability to follow safety procedures.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience in a school or institutional setting preferred.
• Trade certification (e.g., plumbing or electrical) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections and perform preventive maintenance.
• Perform basic repairs across plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and general systems.
• Light carpentry, painting, drywall, flooring repairs, and minor electrical work.
• Maintain cleanliness of interior and exterior spaces; sweeping, mopping, vacuuming.
• Set up furniture, equipment, and materials for events and daily activities.
• Accept, inspect, and organize deliveries and shipments.
• Identify and report vendor performance and maintenance needs.
• Maintain grounds and assist with campus upkeep and landscaping tasks.
• Operate tools and equipment safely to complete tasks.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Maintain appearance, safety, and functionality of assigned areas.
