Job summary

The State of Ohio is seeking a Facility Maintenance Specialist 1 to maintain safe, functional, and mission-ready facilities in support of our military personnel. This role involves hands-on maintenance across buildings and grounds, with opportunities to contribute to readiness and support operations.

You will perform routine upkeep, support plumbing/electrical/carpentry tasks, and manage work orders while coordinating with a team in a civilian state environment.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary training in facilities maintenance technology, industrial trades technology, or a comparable program.
• At least one year of construction or building maintenance experience, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and semi-skilled facility maintenance to support safe, efficient operation of buildings and equipment.
• Assist with minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical tasks.
• Support HVAC and mechanical room upkeep through preventive maintenance.
• Perform general building repair, installation support, and facility upkeep.
• Operate grounds, snow removal, and other maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Complete work orders, maintain records, and communicate maintenance needs and status.
• Use computer systems for email, timekeeping, training, and employee self-service functions.
• Respond to urgent maintenance needs and support continuity of operations.
