Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; 5+ years facilities maintenance management experience or 3+ years with advanced degrees
  • Experience using CMMS/work-order systems and maintenance planning/scheduling
  • Experience with safety practices/regulations for facility operations, and MS Office skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a maintenance team with daily direction, coaching, and performance feedback
  • Plan, prioritize, and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance using CMMS (Maximo)
  • Maintain building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, elevators) to uptime targets
  • Oversee vendor/contractor work, manage service contracts, and obtain bids
  • Support safety programs and drive a safety-first culture
  • Respond to emergencies and coordinate root-cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Track maintenance KPIs (PM completion, response time, backlog, uptime)
  • Assist budgeting, parts inventory, and procurement for maintenance activities
  • Support facility projects with minimal operational disruption
  • Maintain compliance with codes and standards (OSHA, NFPA)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize future projects
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities to reduce lifecycle costs

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for a Facilities Maintenance Manager to join our team of diverse, qualified individuals in Melbourne, FL.
In this role you will oversee the day-to-day maintenance operations for the Melbourne, FL site, ensuring safety, reliability, and cost-effective facility performance. This role supervises a team of in-house technicians, prioritizes and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance, manages vendors, and ensures compliance with applicable safety and building standards. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with strong planning, communication, and problem‑solving skills who can balance urgent needs with long‑term asset care.This position is located in Melbourne, FL

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a maintenance team, including daily direction, work assignments, coaching, and performance feedback
  • Plan, prioritize, and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance using a CMMS/work-order system (Maximo)
  • Maintain building systems (e.g. HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, elevators, structural, grounds, janitorial) to required uptime and reliability targets
  • Maintain production equipment (e.g. mills, lathes, presses, brakes, routers, water jets, 3D printers, CNC machines, etc.)
  • Coordinate and oversee vendor and contractor work; manage service contracts and obtain competitive bids
  • Monitor and enforce safety programs and procedures; drive a safety-first culture
  • Respond to and manage facility emergencies and after-hours incidents, and coordinate root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Track and report maintenance KPIs (e.g., PM completion, response time, backlog, asset uptime)
  • Assist with budgeting, cost control, parts inventory, and procurement for maintenance activities
  • Support facility projects (retrofits, small capital improvements, space moves) and ensure minimal operational disruption
  • Maintain documentation, permits, and compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, local AHJ)
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Projects, Space Planning, and Business Management support teams, to collect, validate, and prioritize future Facilities and User projects for Capital/NRAB and Indirect AOP/LRSP inputs and reviews
  • Collaborate with site leadership and stakeholders to align maintenance priorities with business needs
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance reliability and reduce lifecycle costs
  • All other duties as assigned
This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Basic Required Qualifications
  • Must either have a bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience in managing and/or executing facilities-oriented maintenance, or master’s 3 years of experience managing and/or executing facilities-oriented maintenance or a PhD with 1 year of experience managing and/or executing facilities-oriented maintenance. In lieu of a degree, 4 years of additional years of experience will be considered
  • Experience with CMMS/work-order systems and basic maintenance planning/scheduling
  • Experience with safety practices and regulations relevant to facility operations.
  • Strong Microsoft 365 Office Suite skills, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to support on-call/after-hours needs as required
  • Must be able to transfer or obtain and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. Government Top-Secret Clearance and any program accesses required for the position within a reasonable period, as determined by the enterprise
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 years facilities maintenance experience with building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, general repairs)
  • 1 year of supervisory or lead experience directing maintenance technicians or contractors
  • Certifications such as CFM, FMP, PMP, OSHA 30, HVAC/Electrical license, or equivalent
