Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. in Sedalia, MO, is seeking a Maintenance & Facilities Manager to lead the onsite maintenance team. You will create proactive maintenance plans, enforce safety regulations, and optimize equipment effectiveness, while recruiting and overseeing technicians.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 7-10 years of industrial maintenance experience. We're committed to a workplace that promotes growth and values diverse perspectives.

  • 7-10 years of experience in Industrial Maintenance, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisor or management role.
  • Self-starting and results-oriented individual who is team-oriented.
  • Able to handle multiple projects and priorities as well as deal with ambiguity.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary guardian of workplace safety by enforcing OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Develop and implement proactive maintenance plans.
  • Maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor maintenance technicians and supervisors.
  • Prepare and manage the annual maintenance budget.

The Job:

As a Maintenance & Facilities Manager, you’ll be part of our Maintenance and Tool & Die team working as an onsite employee. You’ll get to:


  • Acting as the primary guardian of workplace safety by enforcing OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards to ensure a zero-incident environment.
  • Developing and implementing proactive maintenance plans, shifting the culture from reactive (break-fix) to Predictive (PdM) and Preventative Maintenance (PM) using data analytics.
  • Maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and minimize unplanned downtime by troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and robotic systems.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor maintenance technicians and supervisors; manage shift schedules and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Prepare and manage the annual maintenance budget, including forecasting costs for parts, labor, and major capital expenditures (CAPEX).
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with external service providers and maintain an optimized inventory of critical spare parts.
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to track work orders, asset history, and KPIs.

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in Industrial Maintenance, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisor or management role.
  • Thorough knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC systems.
  • Self-starting, results-oriented individual who is team oriented.
  • Effective organization, time management, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Able to handle multiple projects and priorities as well as deal with ambiguity.
  • Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM), Certified Plant Maintenance Manager (CPMM) through AFE, or Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) through SMRP (preferred).
  • Willing to work additional hours to cover off shifts for communication rhythms.
