Job summary

The Ohio Adjutant General's Department in Columbus, OH is seeking a Building Maintenance Superintendent 1 to lead facility maintenance operations, supervise staff, and ensure facilities, grounds, and systems are safe and mission-ready.

You will coordinate repairs, renovations, and projects, supervise contractors, and manage maintenance documentation while fostering leadership, readiness, and accountability across the team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience supervising staff in a facilities, maintenance, construction, or building operations environment.
• Experience coordinating maintenance, repair, renovation, or building operations work.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, manuals, and technical instructions.
• Ability to prepare reports, records, and written documentation.
• Ability to communicate clearly with employees, leadership, contractors, and facility stakeholders.
• Ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise day-to-day maintenance operations for assigned facilities, grounds, and related systems.
• Assign, schedule, guide, and review the work of maintenance staff; set work priorities; monitor quality and timeliness; ensure maintenance supports safe, functional, and mission-ready facilities.
• Plan and coordinate repair, renovation, and maintenance projects; develop scopes of work, material lists, and cost estimates; assist with procurement activities; coordinate projects beyond in-house capability; monitor contractor work for quality and timeliness.
