Job summary

House of Ruth Maryland seeks a skilled Facilities Technician to help maintain buildings and grounds, perform advanced repairs, and support staff and clients with facility issues. The role involves multi-site travel, supervision of custodial staff and volunteers, and inventory management.

Requires five years of maintenance experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift 50 pounds and work in all weather. This position supports a comprehensive rewards package and emergency readiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Five years of experience in building maintenance and grounds work.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and good written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays if needed.
• Ability to understand intimate partner violence and its impact on clients.

Responsibilities

• Perform building maintenance and repairs across carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and related tasks.
• Lead maintenance and custodial staff and volunteers when applicable.
• Travel to multiple locations to perform assessments and repairs as needed.
• Oversee grounds maintenance including lawn care, snow removal, and shrub management.
• Use power tools and research parts/instructions online as needed.
• Respond to facility emergencies and provide backup support to operations staff.
• Maintain inventory of stock and coordinate with facilities leadership.
