Job summary

Bronx HealthCare Facility seeks a Maintenance Director responsible for the safe, efficient operation of the facility's physical environment. You will supervise maintenance staff, manage vendor relationships, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

The role requires strong building systems knowledge (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety), proactive preventative maintenance, documentation, and collaboration with administration to address facility needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or technical certification preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of maintenance supervisory experience, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
• Strong knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire alarms).
• Working knowledge of safety regulations and building codes.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage projects from start to finish.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local codes and regulations, including those from the Department of Health.
• Maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire safety, and mechanical systems.
• Oversee preventative maintenance programs for equipment and building systems.
• Coordinate and supervise outside vendors and contractors for facility-related projects.
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and safety hazards.
• Maintain proper documentation of inspections, repairs, and maintenance logs.
• Collaborate with the Administrator and other department heads to address facility needs.
