Job summary

Sporting Kansas City is seeking a Part-Time Facility Maintenance Associate to support upkeep, appearance, and functionality of our facilities. The role involves hands-on maintenance, painting, drywall patching, carpentry, minor plumbing, fixture replacement, and responding to general maintenance requests.

This is a part-time position averaging approximately 20 hours per week. Ideal candidates are dependable, resourceful, and capable of handling a wide range of projects.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred for advanced tasks.
  • HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry knowledge is expected.
  • EPA Universal Certification preferred where applicable.
  • Experience with basic repairs and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance instructions and diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine facility maintenance and general repairs across Sporting Kansas City properties.
  • Respond to work orders promptly and efficiently.
  • Paint, patch drywall, perform minor carpentry, assemble furniture, and replace fixtures.
  • Assist with minor plumbing repairs and address leaks.
  • Replace light bulbs and handle basic electrical-related tasks within scope.

Individuals from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The Part‑Time Facility Maintenance Associate supports the general upkeep, appearance, and functionality of Sporting Kansas City facilities. This hands‑on position performs a variety of routine maintenance, repair, painting, and general handyman tasks to help ensure facilities remain clean, safe, and operational. This role is ideal for someone who is dependable, resourceful, and comfortable completing a wide range of projects. Work may include painting, drywall repair, furniture assembly, minor plumbing or carpentry tasks, replacing fixtures, and responding to general maintenance requests. This is a part‑time position averaging approximately 20 hours per week.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Complete routine facility maintenance and general repair projects across Sporting Kansas City properties.
  • Respond to assigned work orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Perform basic tasks, including painting, drywall patching, minor carpentry, furniture assembly, and fixture replacement.
  • Assist with minor plumbing repairs, such as addressing leaks, replacing hardware, and clearing basic clogs.
  • Replace light bulbs and assist with basic lighting and electrical‑related tasks within the scope of the position.
  • Maintain the overall appearance and condition of offices, common areas, stadium spaces, and other facilities.
  • Assist with facility improvements, building additions, room setups, and special projects.
  • Inspect facilities and report safety concerns, damage, or repairs requiring additional technical expertise.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance and routine equipment inspections.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of tools, supplies, and maintenance materials.
  • Keep work areas clean and remove tools, materials, and debris following project completion.
  • Follow established safety procedures and properly use tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate with the facility operations team and outside vendors as needed.
  • Always represent Sporting Kansas City and its related affiliates professionally.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Matchday and Event Responsibilities
  • Complete assigned repairs and ensure tools, materials, and debris are cleared before gates open.
  • Inspect assigned areas and address general maintenance concerns before, during, and after events.
  • Assist with minor repairs to stadium seating, doors, windows, fixtures, and other facility elements.
  • Respond to facility‑related issues that arise during matches and events.
  • Assist with opening, securing, and closing designated facility areas.
  • Remain available by radio during assigned matches and events.
  • Support post‑event inspections and report any damage or maintenance concerns.

Skills and Experience
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate required, associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Vocational or technical school preferred.
  • EPA Universal Certification preferred.
  • Training and knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
  • Knowledge of environmental safety procedures, as well as OSHA, MSDS and EPA regulations.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Calendar.
