Job summary

KC Current is hiring a Maintenance Engineer to oversee stadium and facility maintenance, ensuring safety and reliability of building systems. You will work in a fast-paced environment, perform preventive and corrective tasks, and collaborate with a team to support events and daily operations.

The role requires hands-on use of power tools, knowledge of CMMS, and the ability to travel between KC Current sites. A proactive and detail-oriented approach helps ensure a high-quality fan experience.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience with power tools and hand tools is required or preferred.
  • Working knowledge of building systems and OSHA safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Organize or render assistance for stadium maintenance functions.
  • Acknowledge staff concerns and requests.
  • Respond to work orders promptly and efficiently.
  • Utilize CMMS to track and close work orders.
  • Assist in overseeing maintenance records and supplies.
  • Support engineering management on projects and maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with maintenance staff to meet quality standards.
  • Handle access control, fire safety, and building systems tasks.
  • Inspect and repair stadium seats, doors, restrooms, and fixtures.
  • Perform basic building maintenance including painting and plumbing repairs.
  • Support air conditioning systems; HVAC and refrigeration knowledge helpful.
  • Conduct regular safety and functionality inspections.
  • Be prepared to respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Travel between KC Current sites; limited travel outside Kansas City region.

Who are we hiring?

The Maintenance Engineer performs a variety of tasks related to the stadium, and surrounding facilities regarding analyzing, correcting, and repairing maintenance problems and various maintenance equipment. Other responsibilities include construction, repair, maintenance, upkeep, and safe operations of related facilities. Maintenance Engineer will have knowledge in maintenance engineering disciplines, be able to apply traits of forward-thinking and ingenuity to daily tasks, and a strong willingness to work in a team environment.

What will you do?
  • Organize or render assistance for stadium maintenance functions.
  • Promptly acknowledge responses to concerns and requests made by staff.
  • Respond to work orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure timely completion of work orders utilizing the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Assist in overseeing and managing the maintenance records and supplies.
  • Assist engineering management on projects, and other maintenance duties such as work orders covering corrective and preventive maintenance of buildings and their components.
  • Work together with other maintenance personnel and management in organizing an essential team that successfully represents the expertise and quality standards of the organization.
  • Perform some duties with access control systems, fire detection and protection systems, and building heating, electrical, mechanical systems.
  • Perform inspections, and repair/replace missing and broken components of stadium seats, doors, restrooms, and other general facility fixtures.
  • Perform general building maintenance to include wall patching, painting, carpentry, wall tile replacement, relamping, ceiling tiles inspections, and basic plumbing repairs.
  • Provide minor service of the facility air conditioning systems. Experience with ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment is preferred but not required.
  • Conduct regular inspections of buildings and equipment to ensure functionality, safety, and compliance.
  • Must be able to respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Will be expected to travel between CPKC Stadium, The University of Kansas Health System Training Center, and any other site in connection with KC Current to perform duties. Travel outside the Kansas City Metropolitan area is not expected in this role.

  • A minimum of two years’ experience with power tools and hand tools.
  • Working knowledge of building systems, equipment, and OSHA safety standards.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is a very active role operating in an office and stadium environment. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium environment.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays.
  • Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time‑sensitive matters with senior executives.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the venue for extended periods of time, often during events or facility setup and breakdown.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed for event setup, equipment management, or assisting with operational needs.
  • Requires occasional bending, squatting, and reaching overhead to handle various tasks related to facility management, equipment, and event preparation.
  • Must be capable of working in physically demanding environments, including navigating stairs, ramps, and elevated platforms during venue conversions.
  • Ability to work outdoors continuously for extended periods of time in all weather conditions
