This role assists with daily maintenance activities, preventative maintenance programs, and repair work on a wide range of systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building controls. The Facilities Technician will also assist with contractor coordination, facility inspections, and safety and compliance programs to ensure the site remains in optimal condition.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on facility systems and equipment, including HVAC, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems; electrical and lighting systems; compressed air, chilled water, and pumping systems; building automation and control systems; and fire suppression and safety systems.
- Assist with troubleshooting and repairs to ensure minimal downtime and safe operation.
- Support upkeep of facilities and the off‑site warehouse, including general maintenance, minor construction, painting, carpentry, and plumbing tasks.
- Assist the Facilities Manager in managing and supporting operations at the off‑site warehouse, ensuring facility readiness, safety, and maintenance needs are addressed.
- Help coordinate outside contractors and service providers (e.g., landscaping, snow removal, janitorial, construction).
- Monitor and report equipment performance and maintenance needs.
- Participate in facility inspections, safety audits, and compliance programs (e.g., HACCP, pollution prevention, fire safety).
- Support the Preventative Maintenance Program by executing scheduled work orders and documenting results.
- Help maintain spare parts inventory, tools, and supplies for building maintenance activities.
- Act as a first responder for facility emergencies and participate in safety and emergency response teams.
- Assist with building control systems, video surveillance checks, and general security of the facility.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade certification preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in facilities, maintenance, or industrial building systems.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and building automation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and organization skills.
- Basic computer skills for work order management and documentation.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work as required.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed to off‑site warehouse.
