Job summary

Zoo Knoxville is seeking a Facilities Manager to oversee the daily operations of the facilities department, maintaining grounds, buildings, utilities, and equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and sustainability. You will lead the facilities team and coordinate with internal departments and contractors.

The role requires strategic planning, hands-on involvement, and a strong emphasis on safety and compliance with ADA, AZA, USDA, OSHA. Weekend and after-hours duties may be required.

Qualifications

• Five+ years in construction or facility maintenance, with at least two years in a supervisory role.
• Technical or trade school degree in construction management, facility maintenance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Facilities department, planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing staff.
• Staff scheduling, staffing projects, and ensuring staffing for Zoo Knoxville's operational needs.
• Lead, mentor, and coordinate facilities staff; foster cross-department collaboration.
• Report to Assistant Director of Facilities, Director of Facilities, and COO as needed.
• Coordinate with external contractors for maintenance, repair, and construction projects.
