Job summary

The Indianapolis Zoo is seeking a Director of Facilities to lead our Facilities, Life Support (Aquatic Engineering), and Energy Management teams. You will oversee the maintenance, reliability, and long‑term performance of the Zoo’s buildings, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure, focusing on preventive maintenance, asset management, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Seven or more years in facilities management or related field.
Five or more years supervising direct reports.
Bachelor's degree in PM/CM or related field preferred.
Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and carpentry.
Broad knowledge of project management, preventative maintenance, and asset management.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Indiana driver's license, or ability to obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

Lead Facilities, Life Support, and Energy Management teams.
Oversee annual maintenance and infrastructure projects with procurement.
Manage asset records, building plans, inventories, warranties, and Energy Management System.
Develop and monitor annual operating budgets and capital plans.
Promote a culture of safety and regulatory compliance.
Lead and develop departmental managers and team members.
Maintain emergency readiness and coordinate during severe weather and emergencies.
Partner with departments across the Zoo to support campus operations and guest experiences.
