Job summary

The Oak Brook Park District is seeking a Lead Custodian (Full-Time, Non-Exempt) to supervise custodial staff across park district facilities. The role emphasizes cleanliness, scheduling, staff evaluations, and regular coordination with the Facility Manager.

Qualifications

• A high school degree is preferred, with a minimum age of 21.
• One year of experience in custodial services is required.
• A valid Illinois Driver's License is required.
• CPR/AED certification is required and training will be provided by the Park District.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with the Facility Manager regularly on Park District matters.
• Keep the Facility Manager informed of facility or equipment repairs.
• Assist with ordering and monitoring janitorial supplies; promote environmentally friendly products.
• Prepare a weekly work schedule for direct report custodial staff.
• Ensure shifts are adequately covered and additional shifts are distributed.
• Perform annual evaluations for custodial staff.
• Maintain cleanliness of all facilities; sweep, mop, vacuum, wash surfaces, and remove trash.
• Learn and operate cleaning equipment such as scrubbers, carpet cleaners, and power washing equipment.
• Set up/breakdown programming spaces as required.
• Demonstrate exceptional customer service in all communications.
• Support safety initiatives and address hazards proactively.
