Job summary

The University of Chicago is seeking an engineer to design and document campus and Medical Center wiring infrastructure, including copper and fiber optics. You will work with the IT manager to enforce standards, read blueprints, and assist in bid preparation and reviews while coordinating with project managers and clients.

You will ensure policy compliance, manage installation schedules, and liaise with vendors, architects, and construction teams, contributing to secure, scalable communications

Qualifications

• College or university degree required.
• 2–5 years of relevant work experience in telecommunications and data cabling.
• BICSI accreditation and a valid driver’s license are required.

Responsibilities

• Develop bid specifications for contractor bid conferences and manage bid conferences.
• Evaluate bid responses, write scopes of work, and manage project budgets and invoices.
• Coordinate installation from award to customer acceptance, including submittals and drawings.
• Ensure local and city code compliance and participate in related organizations.
• Collaborate with ITS, construction managers, vendors, architects, and subcontractors.
• Prepare as-built drawings, documentation, and database updates.
