Job summary

Merck & Co. seeks a Facilities Tech 2 to maintain and troubleshoot critical site infrastructure at the Durham, NC facility. The role balances HVAC upkeep with general building maintenance, safety inspections, and waste handling in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities include operating the Siemens Desigo CC system, performing routine PMs, and assisting with control faults and regulatory testing as part of a hands-on maintenance team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school/HVAC coursework preferred.
• 3–5 years hands-on experience maintaining industrial, commercial, or institutional HVAC/facility systems.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in mechanical spaces.
• English fluency required.

Responsibilities

• HVAC & Mechanical Troubleshooting: perform PM and repairs on AHUs, RTUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, exhaust fans, pumps.
• Building Automation & Controls: operate Siemens Desigo CC, respond to alarms, address basic faults and setpoints.
• Routine Maintenance & General Trades: drywall, patching, painting, light repairs.
• Safety Inspections & Compliance: weekly life‑safety/OSHA checks, assist HAZWOPER tasks.
