Job summary

The City of Dover, New Hampshire is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Worker to perform routine unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor across city buildings, parks, fields, playgrounds, and other facilities. This full-time, 40-hour per week, non-exempt position pays $20.29 to $29.32 per hour.

Typical duties include mowing, trimming, snow removal, basic tool use, loading and unloading materials, and assisting skilled crews.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 1 year construction/road maintenance experience.
• Valid Operator’s license; CDL-B with air brake and tanker endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform general heavy laboring duties assisting skilled workers; lay curbstones, remove trees, mix and pour cement, and other general labor work.
• Maintain parks, ball fields, cemeteries, and playground facilities; mow grass and clear weeds and brush.
• Provide assistance with snow removal operations, operating small trucks or sidewalk plows, or assist as wingman on plow; attach/detach snow plows and sanders.
• Shovel snow and spread sand or salt on sidewalks, parking lots, steps.
• Load and unload heavy objects into or from trucks or storage units.
• Assist in other activities to mitigate conditions caused by extreme weather, and disasters.
• Operate and perform maintenance on hand tools and machinery (mowers, brush cutters, chainsaws, weed whackers).
• Occasionally perform traffic control at job sites.
• Operate trucks and motorized equipment as necessary.
• Maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
