Job summary

St. Clair County is seeking a skilled Buildings & Grounds Worker to handle maintenance for facilities under 150,000 sq ft. The role includes inspections, seasonal snow removal, lawn care, basic repairs, and record-keeping. Weekend on-call duties may be required.

Ideal candidates have five years of related experience, knowledge of HVAC basics, and strong computer and communication skills. Background checks and valid MI driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in building and grounds maintenance including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and small engine repair.
• Extensive knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in custodial and buildings and grounds maintenance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook; good research and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers and clients.

Responsibilities

• Perform general building and grounds maintenance for buildings under 150,000 sq ft.
• Inspect buildings to determine work to be performed and check activities.
• Perform snow removal and keep sidewalks clear of ice.
• Maintain lawns and irrigation; repair sprinkler lines.
• Paint, change lights, and unplug drains; replace electrical switches/breakers.
• Keep records of maintenance requests; order and record supplies.
• Grease motors, change oil, and service small engines.
• Perform preventative maintenance on air handlers and related equipment.
• May supervise Custodian IIs and coordinate tasks.
