Job summary

City of Austin is seeking a Building & Grounds Assistant to perform custodial tasks, light maintenance, and grounds work across City facilities, parks, and event venues. The role involves cleaning interiors, minor repairs, and assisting with exhibit setups and event support.

Applicants should have at least 1 year of janitorial/grounds experience; Texas driver’s license may be required. The position offers a consistent Monday–Friday schedule with early mornings at Palmer Events Center and other

Qualifications

• One (1) year experience related to janitorial or grounds keeping services.

Responsibilities

• Clean building interiors.
• Perform grounds maintenance.
• Perform minor building maintenance and repair.
• Operate and maintain assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Set-up and tear-down exhibit halls and ballrooms for events.
• Perform minor construction work such as erecting partitions, walls, painting, or storage sheds.
• Perform routine administrative duties and prepare reports.
• Maintain inventory of materials and supplies; make purchases when needed.
• Handle and account for cash.
• Train new employees to perform basic duties.
