Job summary

El Paso Texas is seeking an information technology specialist to support GIS systems and databases for facilities management. The role involves technical support, data entry coordination with facilities, and coordinating with DoITS to operate and improve GIS-enabled workflows.

The candidate will design data storage solutions, create reports and visualizations, and ensure system security and documentation are up to date. This is an unclassified contract position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• Two years of experience using GIS systems for engineering drafting, surveying, cartography, or photogrammetry, or two years of general data processing or data management experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and ensure proper functioning of geographical information systems and databases.
• Collaborate with facilities management to provide data entry and GIS support.
• Plan and operate facilities information systems in coordination with the City’s DoITS.
• Work with cross-functional teams to analyze data and provide insights for facilities maintenance decisions.
• Design and implement solutions for storing and organizing large spatial datasets.
• Configure and maintain GIS and database management systems to meet operational needs.
• Create and maintain reports and visualizations from GIS data for decision making.
• Ensure GIS and information systems comply with security and data privacy requirements.
• Develop training materials, system documentation, and perform regular maintenance.
