Minimum Special Hiring Rate: $36,533

Eastern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility is looking to fill a Facilities/Equipment Maintenance vacancy. Under general supervision, coordinates with the maintenance department on a daily basis to complete maintenance work orders and assigned ongoing projects. Performs routine preventative maintenance on all HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems. Works in all areas of maintenance to include, but not limited to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, masonry, carpentry, ventilation and renovations. Maintains all facility grounds and upkeep to include mowing, trimming, snow plowing and ice removal. Maintains detailed tool and supply inventories to ensure a safe and smooth operating facility. Must have a valid drivers license. Shift work and call-back work may be required. Performs related work as required.

  • In accordance with SPB 3088 effective 10/7/23, $5000 will be added to the minimum starting rate of pay for all classifications within a Critical Vacancy Pay Supplemental Facility. Critical Vacancy Pay Facilities: Huttonsville Correctional Center and Jail, Mount Olive Correctional Complex and Jail, Western Regional Jail and Corrections Facility, Northern Correctional Facility (including Ohio County Correctional Center), Northern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, Chick Buckbee Juvenile Center, Vicki Douglas Juvenile Center, Potomac Highlands Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, and Eastern Regional Jail and Corrections Facility (including Martinsburg Correctional Center) (SPB 3088)

  • Employees in this classification shall receive an annual base building pay differential each fiscal year of $250 after completing one year of service.

  • If an employee is hired into a Critical Vacancy Pay Facility (CVPF) and leaves the facility, the additional pay differential of $5,000 shall be removed from their salary, unless transferring to another CVPF.

Training:Graduation from a standard four-year high school or GED or four year apprenticeship program or two year post secondary technical school.
Substitution:Experience in air-conditioning, heating or refrigeration may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.

Experience:Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in heating, cooling, ventilation or the mechanical or building trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, plasterer, painter, welder, machinist, mechanic or masonry work.

Special Requirement:Specific positions may require certification from a federal EPA approved testing organization as a certified technician required by the clean Air Act on refrigerant recycling.
