The Facilities Environmental Coordinator is responsible for site‑level compliance activities at our CFC location and supports the governance of Facilities Compliance throughout the supply chain. Primary focus areas include Waste Management, EPCRA, SPCC, and Product Stewardship related to Hazmat Storage and Transportation. The role also involves training associates, planning and executing department projects, interpreting regulations, tracking emerging issues, and collaborating with the EC&S department to develop and execute action plans for new or existing regulations and sustainability initiatives.

Facilities Compliance Activities
  • Develop a basic understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including waste, SPCC, EPCRA, and recycling requirements.
  • Coordinate with third‑party consultants and MSC locations to develop and implement SPCC plans, ensuring compliance with EPA requirements.
  • Lead compliance projects such as waste surveys to identify gaps and process improvements.
Hazmat Transportation / Storage
  • Classify hazardous items for DOT transportation compliance.
  • Facilitate hazmat shipments across transport modes, including labeling, packaging, and segregation.
  • Ensure storage areas are configured in the WMS and meet capacity requirements for specified hazardous substances.
  • Conduct audits of hazardous packing and storage processes within Supply Chain Operations.
Waste Profiling / Management
  • Apply RCRA regulations to characterize and dispose of wastes, reviewing manifests and Land Disposal Restriction Forms.
  • Maintain Central and Satellite Accumulation Areas in compliance with regulations.
  • Coordinate with waste companies for cradle‑to‑grave liability tracking and record‑keeping.
  • Provide guidance on Universal Waste storage, disposal, and waste minimization opportunities.
  • Prepare and document waste audits, inspections, and standard operating procedures.
Product Stewardship Basics
  • Understand product stewardship regulations, including labeling, SDS/M SDS compliance with GHS and CA Proposition 65.
  • Read SDSs to determine restrictions and requirements for transportation, storage, and disposal.
  • Coordinate with SDS management firms to reconcile and maintain accurate SDS information.
Research and Analytics
  • Research emerging regulations to assess risk and impact to MSC.
  • Assist with compliance projects under departmental guidance.
  • Use AS400, ASI, and SAP systems to run reports, analyze findings, and present results to management.
Customer Service / Collaboration
  • Provide timely customer service to internal and external stakeholders via phone, email, or in person.
  • Build cross‑functional relationships to improve communication and process efficiency.
  • Assist with contractor qualification and sustainability questionnaires.
Reporting
  • Lead the preparation of three or more government agency reports, including Tier 2 Waste/Recycling Reporting and Scope Emissions 1, 2, and 3.
  • Test and evaluate IT project updates, providing feedback to programmers and management.
General Responsibilities
  • Train and develop fellow Coordinators and other associates.
  • Lead regulatory summary presentations and assessments of hazmat returns.
  • Maintain compliance with internal guidelines and foster company culture.
  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Four‑year technical degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or equivalent experience.
  • Alternative: Four‑year degree with 3‑5 years in hazardous waste management or related role.
  • RCRA training completed or to be completed within 90 days.
  • In‑depth knowledge of federal and state hazardous waste laws and OSHA standards.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills; ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook.
Bonus Points
  • Two years of hazardous waste management experience.
  • Relevant certifications such as Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response or DOT Hazmat handling.
  • MHE certifications or completion within 90 days.
Other Requirements
  • Valid driver's license may be required.
  • Up to 15% travel.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects.
Compensation

Starting range: $46,300 – $72,820, depending on location and experience.
